“The pleasing spiral shape, combined with the near infinite variety of surfaces and textures, makes the Ammonite a fascinating, engrossing, enigmatic fossil to contemplate”.

The special spiral shape of Ammonites is a mathematically precise curve that spirals inward—and outward—forever in what is known as a Fibonacci proportion. Known as ‘the golden mean’ or ‘the divine proportion’, the beauty of this repeating shape was known and described by Archimedes, Euclid, Aristotle, and Leonardo Da Vinci. It has inspired beautiful design and art throughout human history.
